IDEA Students win Salazar awards!

Many congratulations to Camille Segur (grad 13) and Alex Harvey-Wickens (grad 14) for winning Brand Identity and Print category Salazar awards last night! The GDC/BC Salazar Student Awards are open to students in all BC design-related programs. Four awards were given; in addition to IDEA winners, Interactive Design grad (and former IDEA student) Joan Gurney won in the Interactive category.

Many finalists and honourable mentions were also Capilano students! Read more on the Salazar website.

IDEA supports School of Art & Design programs

Sadly, there is a current proposal to cut three programs in the School of Art & Design: Studio Art, Interactive Design and Textiles – along with other programs at Capilano, in order to balance this year’s budget. We support all measures to reverse this decision! Here is a petition on change.org that you can add your voice to.

Painting Exhibition – Reflections 2014 April 16

GRAD SHOW APRIL 15TH AT HARBOUR CENTRE

Come and see the results of all the hard work by our graduating class! The gala opening is on Monday, April 15 from 7 – 9 pm, and the exhibition is up all week. Everyone is welcome.

Type Eh is a group exhibition featuring work from 14 illustration & design students. An underdog to North American Culture and overshadowed by Britain, Canada has been searching for its own national identity. Steeped in history, diversity, and compassion, it’s time we celebrated on home turf.

Rosea makes a splash

First year student Rosea Lake has received a lot of attention for her “Judgements” work after it went viral when she posted it on Tumblr. IDEA students win Jim Rimmer scholarships

We’re very pleased to announce that IDEA students Camille Segur (grad 13) and Alex Tench (grad 13) won both of the GDC Jim Rimmer Community Scholarships for Design this year. The submitted work had to “apply design thinking to benefit a community and effectively communicate a message, affect action and promote change.” Camille and Alex received their $1,000 cheques at Friday’s Practivism event. You can see the projects here that won the awards. Many congratulations!
